Year 2008 is soon history- some highlights in developing of the Logistia

The year 2008 is almost gone. It is time to estimate how we succeeded in the developing of the company network in Kauhajoki in 2008.

In February we participated in the conference “Logistiikkaseminaari 2008”. We had our own stand there, presented our Technology center Logistia and the know-how of logistic systems. We got to known new cluster LIMOWA (Lifting-Moving-Warehousing) and now we are the member.

We also had our own “Logistia -seminar” in which all the speakers and subjects were from the companies of our branch from Kauhajoki. The seminar also was  recorded to a video and it is found on these web-pages.
We will arrange two Logistia-seminars 2009. The next one will be arranged on  21th of January 2009.

We generated the project application of starting the Logistia Institute.
The Institute will open soon. I will tell about this in the future a lot more.

The significant result was the fact that we made the nearly 40 students get excited about to study industrial economy. The education began in October in Kauhajoki.

We also had Logistia-stand with four companies in the  Subcontracting Fair 2008 at Tampere . The Fair was a success. We will be there 2009.

The companies of Logistia have gotten financing to the development projects. I hope that we get still more these development projects. Now it is the TIME!

I have written the companies several  “Cluster-letters” in which I inform what’s going on at Logistia. Furthermore, I have written more than 30 articles on these web pages.

Export to India, visit at Finpro office, Delhi 5th of November

Material handling companies of Kauhajoki have begun export to India. Our neighbour,  Pesmel also has a company  at Mumbay, Pesmel India Ltd.
Also several other companies of Logistia Cluster already have gotten references in India.

Here is the current economic report of India, the facts are from presentation of Finpro. From the effect of the recession there also are some views.

India’s economic growth has been y 2007-2008 8,7%. The gross national product is 720 billion euros. India is the 12th biggest economy of the world. Every tenth millionaire of the world will come from India. The middle class grows fast. Still there are 300 millions of the poor, however. The inflation is now 11%.

In addition to the uneven division of the development, the problems of India are, the adequacy of resources, such as water and energy. The infrastructure still requires hard inputs of the state (electricity, public traffic, IT ..).
Care of the employment, education, the public health service are the big challanges. The drags of the development also are terrorism and corruption. The environment is a challenging problem.

The recession also have effects in India. The growth prognosis of the GNP  is 7-7,5%. The external value of the rupee has fallen about 20%. The export will decrease. The foreign direct investments also will decrease and the investment decisions to India have been put off. The domestic demand also is on the decrease. The unemployment and the political instability are consequences of these.

Finland exports to India telecommunication devices, paper, machines and devices of the industry. To the companies of Kauhajoki India is an extremely potential export destination country.

The studies of the industrial management and economics will begin today in Kauhajoki with 37 students!

The expanding of the know-how in the companies of the area is our important goal, so far we have been very succesful; now we have 37 interested students. It is a really good that the University of Vaasa brings the studies to Kauhajoki, near us. The studies begin today (10th of October) with the course “the basic of the logistics”, for 12 hours lectures by professor Tauno Kekäle

And another great news  is that Logistia Institute will start soon. The interesting opening seminar will be arranged as a theme  product development and of course, the opening ceremonies. These are extremely significant achievements to the region of Kauhajoki.

The Subcontracting Trade Fair 2008 was a success!

We, Logistia and three companies from Kauhajoki had the stand  at Subcontracting fair for the first time. We got very many visitors to our stand even though we were located in the hall B, quite far away from the action. Our beautiful “Fair-girls” were able to bring many guests to us. Our Laser-competition was going on daily all the time; sometimes there was a over even 20 metric queue of participants. The prizes are just sent to the day competition winners. We thank all the visitors and welcome also visit us next year!

Logistia participating Subcontracting Trade Fair 17.-19.9. 2008

Welcome to visit to our stand  B101, to the Subcontracting Trade Fair.

In addition to us – Logistia , the following companies from Kauhajoki are with us: Ossin metalli Ltd,  Kivilahden konepaja Ltd, LC Logistics Center Ltd and the  Federation of Municipalities for Economic Development  in Suupohja.

We will arrange a LASER-gun shooting competition every day. The best results for  day are rewarded! Furthermore, there are, among others, beauties from our area along, for example miss Southern Ostrobothnia serves coffee.

There are almost 900 companies from 19 different countries participating this year and all four exhibition halls of Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre are full of exhibitors
